Helen Wynn Bass
March 8, 1935 ? July 12, 2026
It is with sorrow that the family of Helen Wynn Bass, age 91, of Speedwell announce her passing on July 12, 2026. Known as mom, granny, mawmaw, she was a matriarch and a friend to everyone se met. She was born and preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hazel Wynn of Crockett, Virginia; also preceded in death by her husband W R (Pud) Bass; two brothers Earl Wynn, William Wynn; three sisters, Evelyn Malone, Ethel Roberts and Rita Hunley. Her life was defined by her unwavering faith, her love for the Lord and her dedication to her church and her family. She spends many hours reading her Bible.
Despite enduring many medical issues throughout her life, she met every challenge with incredible strength and grace. She was a gifted baker, seamstress, and crocheter, often using her talents to bless those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Callahan and her husband Allen, her grandson Eric Callahan (her bubby) and his wife Tabatha; her great grandchildren that were very cherished and very loved, Madyson Callahan and Landon Callahan. A special fur baby and devoted companion, Dave. Special friends, Shirley Thomas and Lois Hensley. Siblings, Elizabeth Monahan and her husband Jack, Gladys Havens and sister-in-law, Betsy Wynn; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Reverend Doug Stuart, with interment to follow in the Speedwell Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family request donation may be made to the Speedwell Methodist Church Cemetery, PO Box 14, Speedwell, VA 24374.
