Donald ?Don? G. Bessette

Donald "Don" Gordon Bessette passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Lansing, Michigan.
He was born December 29, 1935 in Lansing to Robert and Bernice (St. Clair) Bessette. On June 15, 1957, Don married Shirley Cole, and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage. He retired from GM after many years of service. Following retirement, Don and Shirley spent their summers in Gladwin, Michigan, and their winters in Florida.
Don loved his family dearly. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life, wherever he lived, and was known as the "Bass Man on the Tittabawassee River". He also enjoyed trips to the casinos.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley (Cole) Bessette; his daughters, Laura Jean (Steven) Edson, Julie Ann Bessette, Bonnie Lou Bessette, and Connie Sue (Al) Garn; his grandsons, Joshua Donald and Tyler Steven Edson; his brother, Robert "Bobby" (Kate) Bessette; his sister, Mary Ellen Prasil; and his many beloved pets, especially his dog Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
According to his wishes, no funeral services will be held. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Don's honor to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823.
