Royce D. “Bud” Pierson

YAKIMA – Bud, 72, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2005 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 8, 1932, to Ralph and Mabel Pierson in Torrington, Wyoming. He moved to the Naches Valley at the age of five with his parents and two sisters.
Bud worked for a short time for the Boeing Corporation before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps and serving with Honors during the Korean Conflict.
After his active service, Bud returned home and married his childhood sweetheart and love of this life LaVonne Bassett, on April 22, 1956. He then spent the next 40 years working for and retiring from Boise Cascade Corp.
Bud’s most enjoyable times were camping, cutting wood, and fishing with family and playing blackjack at any local casino.
Bud is survived by his wife of 49 years LaVonne, a son, Ralph “Smokey” Pierson (fiancee, Dawn Rodman); a sister, Ilene Cleaver all of Yakima; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special brother in crime Vernon Brown.
A graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 at West Hills Memorial Park with full Military Honors conducted by Bravo Company, 4th tank Battalion, USMC.
In lieu of flowers, Bud would ask you to donate to the Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots c/o Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
