Former Hudson resident Marian D. Bassett, 69, Branford, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Valdosta, Ga.
She was born Dec. 14, 1924 in Chicago to Raymond and Isabelle Holsinger Long.
Mrs. Bassett was a homemaker and attended Hudson United Brethren Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; one son, Raymond of Kendallville; one daughter, Melody Kalinke of Valparaiso; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodruff Cemetery, rural Wotcottville. The Rev. Craig Burkholder will officiate.
Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, is in charge of arrangements.
BERNARD BASSETT, HUDSON (Kendalville, Ind.)

Bernard LaVon Bassett, 75, died Tuesday afternoon in the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Bassett was the owner of the Plato Grocery Store and was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was born June 15, 1923, in South Milford to the late George and Sylvia Mae (Eshleman) Bassett.
He married Marian Adell (Long) Bassett in June 1945. She preceded him in death Feb. 1, 1994.
Surviving him are one son, Ray L. of Kendalville; one daughter, Melodee Kalinke of Valparaiso; one sister, Garnet Crist of Warsaw; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ancel, Roscoe, Donald, Harvey, Russell, Dale and Arthur; and two sisters, Pearl and Opal.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Woodruff Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Oberlin-Ford Funderal Home, Hamilton, is in charge of arrangements.

Bernard L. Bassett, 76, died Tuesday at a hospice center in Fort Wayne. Born in South Milford, he was a World War II Marine veteran and was owner of Plato Grocery Store. His wife, Marian Adell, died in 1994.
