Emogene L. Bassett
Emogene L. Bassett, 89, of the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home, formerly of
Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 1994, in Delaware County Memorial
Hospital, Manchester, after a short illness. Services: 9 a.m. Saturday, Cedar
Memorial Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Carroll Brown of Salem United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Cedar Memorial
Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Strawberry Point; and a siste
Vivian Steele of Arlington. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Gardner.
Emogene was born May 22, 1905, in Arlington, a daughter of William and Elva
Frame Gable. She married Kenneth P. Bassett there on Feb. 14, 1927. Emogene
was a personal shopper at Killians for 30 years, retiring in 1970. She was a
member of Salem United Methodist Church and Kings Daughters and was a
volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. A memorial fund has ben established.
