Mrs. Frances J. (Laroe) Bessette
Mrs. Frances M. (Laroe) Bessette, age 95, died Friday afternoon, March 19, 1993 in th Northwestern Medical Center.
She was born in East Alburg, Sept. 14, 1897, daughter of the late Zeb and Mildred (Lawyer) Laroe. Mrs. Bessette was a Gold Star Mother. She was the matriarch of 199 direct descendants.
She is survived by her son and daughers-in-law, James Bessette and his wife, Rita, of Shelcon, Arcella (widow of Clayton) Bessette of St. Albans; four daughters and sons-in-law, Rhoda and Clarence LaRocque of Swanton, Mildred and Gerald Rocheleau of St. Albans and Orage, Fla., Marion and Wayne Young of Sheldon, and Mrs. Carolina Bliss of St. Albans; her brother Zeb Laroe, Jr., and sister Bessie Pearo, both of St. Albans; 26 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchileren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Carlton C. Bessette, who died May 17, 1989, her sons Harold, who was a casualty of World War II, Leon who died at birth, and Clayton Bessette who died July 1, 1992.
Funeral services and visiting hours will be private for family members. Interment will be later this spring in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Cirle, St. Albans, Vt., 05478. Arrangements are by the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
