Alfred W. Bruch
Alfred W. Burch, 90, a longtime resident of River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, passed away peacefully on Monday February 17, 2014 at Danbury Hospital. Alfred was born in Warwick, RI on December 28, 1923, son of the late Guy and Grace (Bessette) Burch. He was the widower of the late Evelyn Burch.
He was educated in New Milford, CT and later received a degree in engineering. He worked for Avco-Lycoming in Stratford for 35 years as a methods and standards engineer.
He served in WWII as a machinist in the army air corps in Rhineland, Central Europe and the South Pacific. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory medal, and Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Alfred is survived by his son, Peter, of Loxahatchee, FL, daughter, Marion Margaitis and her husband, John, of Woodbury, a sister, Marguerite Morsey, of Roxbury, sister in law, Theresa, of New Milford, four grandchildren, Kathryn Harrison of Danbury and her husband Mark, Alyxandria Burch and Fiancée, Dean DeLeuw, Qwynn Burch, Peter Z. Burch and great grandson, Jayce, all of Loxahatchee, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Guy Burch.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of River Glen Health Care Center for their outstanding care and love extended to him during his residency.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in Old North Cemetery, Woodbury. Memorial contributions may be made in Alfred's memory to the Valerie Fund in Care of River Glen Health Care Center, 162 South Britain Rd., Southbury, CT 06488.
