      Funeral services for Allen A. Bassett,54, prominent resident of Monticello and district manager of the Peoples Life Insurance Co. of Frank fort, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o?clock at the Presbyterian church. The body will be taken to the church at 12 o?clock to lie in state. Burial will be made in Riverview cemetery.
      Pallbearers will be George E. Smith, R.M. Tomlinson, V.D. Rider, Goerge W. Kassabaum, J.B. Dorsett, Donald P. Brearly, N.C. Seward and Jack Moore Members of the staff of the Peoples Life Insurance Co. will serve as honorary pallbearers and tribute bearers.
      The sudden death of Mr. Bassett spread a pall of sorrow over the entire community. He had not been in good health for sometime, but had been handling his business as usual. Entering the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis Tuesday morning about noon for a check-up, he succumbed in his room at 2 p.m. very suddenly after undergoing a heart examination. He was resting in bed and just turned over on his side, when he suffered a sharp fatal heart attack. Mrs. Bassett and Mrs. George Kassabaum, who had accompanied her, were with him when he passed away.
      Mr. Bassett was born at Stockwell in April 1886, the son of William and Mary Bassett. His father operated elevators at Clarkes Hill, Kirklin and Lebanon and he was associated with him in those places during early manhood. In 1916 Mr. Bassett was united in marriage to Mae Morningstar of Rochester and they came to Monticello the following year, Mr. Bassett going into partnership with James Graham in the insurance business. He later purchased his partner?s interest and then become associated with the Peoples Life Insurance Co. of Frankfort, and later became district manager, building up a very lucrative business.
      The deceased was a member of the local Presbyterian church, Libanus Lodge NO. 154, F. & A.M., the Shrine and Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. He was an active member of the Tippecanoe Country Club.
      Surviving are the widow; two sisters, Mrs. Reed Holloman of Santa Fe, N.M., and Mrs. Robert McKay, of San Francisco, Cal.; one brother, William S. Bassett, Milwaukee Wis.; and his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Morningstar, who as resided at the Bassett home for several years.
      The body was prepared for burial at the Prevo & Son Funeral Home and was taken to the Bassett home.

      Allen A. Bassett, 54, former resident of this city passed away at 2
      o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist hospital at Indianapolis. For the
      past score of years Mr. Bassett has resided in Monticello, Ind, where he was
      engaged in the insurance business.
      During Mr. Bassett's residency in Rochester, he and his brother Bill
      Bassett operated a motion picture theatre and also two large passenger boats
      on Lake Manitou. Mrs. Bassett was formerly Miss Mae Morningstart, of th
      city. The deceased is survived by his wife, his mother, a brother and a
      sister. There are no children.
      Funeral arrangements had not been announced as this issue of The News-
      Sentinel went to press.

      Funeral services for Allen Bassett, 54, Monticello insurance agent and
      former resident of Rochester, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the
      Presbyterian church in Monticello with burial in the Riverview cemetery at
      Monticello. Mr. Bassett died Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist hospital at
      Indianapolis following a heart attack. Survivors are the widow, a brother and
      two sisters.
