Archie J. Bessette
Archie J. Bessette, 71, of 922 lake Blvd., St. Joseph, died yesterday at his residence. He had been ill for three years.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1901, in Pawtucket, R.I., and came to this area 26 years ago. He married the former Ida Galbreath Daisy on Feb. 14, 1947. He was a foreman at Producers Cannery, and most recently, a bartender at Babe’s Lounge, Benton Harbor. He was a member of the Benton Harbor Moose.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Ida, are a daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Violet) Stark of Coloma; and two grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Kerly and Starks funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph D. Graybill, pastor of the Free Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
