Mary Ruth VanLoon, also known as Mary Bear, humbly departed from this earthly realm on December 19, 2023, at the age of 78, in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was born on May 24, 1945, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, a testament to the divine plan woven with purpose and grace. Mary, a soul deeply rooted in gratitude and respect for all of creation, exemplified a life dedicated to humility and compassion.
In her earthly journey, Mary was a beacon of love and care, extending her nurturing embrace to both family and friends. Her heart overflowed with kindness, never declining an opportunity to offer solace and sustenance to those in need, be it a warm meal or a tender moment shared with a stray creature seeking refuge.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of cherished relationships, both familial and chosen. She is survived by her dear brother, Jimmy Bass (Maria) from Estelle Springs, Tennessee, whose bond exemplified the strength of family ties. Karen Jones, her beloved daughter-in-law from Shelbyville, Tennessee, stood as a pillar of support and love throughout Mary's journey. Mary's four sons, Michael Jones (Jamie) of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Randall Jones (Patricia) of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Timothy Jones (Dianne) of White House, Tennessee, and Darren Jones (Teresa) of Shelbyville, Tennessee, were blessed to have her as their guiding light. Additionally, Tara Wasserman of Florida, whom Mary lovingly raised as her own daughter from the moment of birth, held a sacred place in her heart. Mary's life was further enriched by the blessings of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to the beautiful tapestry of family and love.
