- Jared Beardsley Bassett (brother of Bennett Bassett) was married to Mary Wheeler whose father was Nathan Beech Wheeler.
Bennett Basset (brother of Jared Beardsley Bassett) was married to Matilda Wheeler whose father was Lyman Wheeler.
Nathan Beech Wheeler and Lyman Wheeler were brothers.
Succeeding his father on the homestead, D. Clinton Bassett continued the practices of farming laid down by his father and gradually developed his farm into a high state of productivity. Year after year bountiful crops were taken with no sign of deterioration. In 1879-1880 he attended school at Cook Academy in Havana, New York, and there learned surveying, and with the instruments handed down by his grandfather, Nathan B. Wheeler, he went out and surveyed many farms in this vicinity. Upon the marriage of his son, DeWitt Jr., he removed to Interlaken.
