Thomas Bassett Services Monday
FALL RIVER ? The funeral of Thomas B. Bassett, 80, of 488 High St., prominent banker and trustee, will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Waring Funeral Home.
Mr. Bassett died late Thursday night in Truesdale Hospital after a long illness.
He was board chairman of the Fall River Savings Bank and a director of the Durfee Trust Company.
He was graduated from Durfee High School and form Harvard College in 1905. He entered the investment field with Paine and Webber, of Boston, and returned to Fall River to enter the cotton brokerage firm of Bassett and Durfee on the death of his father. He was associated with it for many years, under the name of Bassett and Albro.
He was elected a corporator of the Fall River Savings Bank in 1920, trustee and investment board member in 1918, vice-president in 1944, president in 1947 and board chairman last January.
He was a former trustee of Union Hospital.
Mr. Bassett was a member of the Harvard Club of Fall River and a former president and one of the oldest members of the Quequechan Club.
He leaves two sisters, Mrs. S.T. Hubbard of Bronxville, N.Y., and Mrs. Oliver S. Hawes, Jr. of Fall River.
