Dale G. Bassett, 78, of Fort Wayne died yesterday in Parkview Memorial Hospital. The South Milford native retired from International Harvester in 1988 after 30 years and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Kendallville.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Sue A. Brill of Wolcottville, sons, David L. of Fort Wayne and Thomas L. of Kendalville, eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday in the church, with burial in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville. Calling is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the Hite Funeral Home, Kendalville.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the American Diabetes Association or church endowment fund.

Dale G. Bassett, 78, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, August 10, 1994, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 5, 1916, in South Milford, the son of George L. and Sylvia (Eshelman) Bassett. He was retired from a position as tool grinder at International Harvester after 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He married Nancy Eshelman, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Sue Ann Brill, Wolcottville; two sons, David L., Fort Wayne, and Thomas L., Kendallville, eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister; and three brothers. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
Calling will be Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, Kendalville. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Anthony Steinbronn officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Kendalville.
