  Notes	Shackelford Funeral Directors Bert Bass Bert Bass, 69, of Oakland, departed this life Friday, March 5, 2021 at his home. He was born May 12, 1951 in Whiteville, son of the late Robert Penn Bass, Jr. and Evelyn Burton Sammons Bass and lived in Shelby County since 1972, moving to Oakland just recently. He was retired as realtor in Memphis and Shelby County, where he worked for 20 years. He loved his farm, fishing and being outside, taking great pride in his land. He also enjoyed old cars and was Methodist in belief. Survivors include a brother, Martin Weston Bass (Connie) of Lexington, KY and his companion for 8 1/2 years, Mary Halle of Bartlett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Bass Scholes. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
