Margaret M. Bass
LANCASTER, Wis. - Margaret M. Bass, 83, of Lancaster, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Lancaster, with the Rev. Tom Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on July 21, 1920, in Glen Haven, daughter of Charles and Alta (Williams) Bushnell.
She married Orville A. Bass in 1939, in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death in 1976. They owned and operated Bass Newstand and built their house in the early 1950s. Over the years, she also worked at McCarville's A&W, Grant Community Clinic and F&M Bank.
She enjoyed neighborhood barbecues, playing cards, hunting mushrooms, picking up and cracking nuts, going to garage sales, antiques, baking Christmas cookies with butternuts and delivering them, trick-or-treaters at Halloween, shopping and visiting relatives. She especially enjoyed her grandsons.
Margaret always valued her friendship with her co-workers at F&M, and her other friends and relatives.
Surviving are a son, William (Vicki) Bass, of Lancaster; two grandsons, Zachary (Amanda Fair) Bass, of San Francisco, and Jediah Bass, of Lancaster; and a great-grandson, Logan Bass, of Platteville.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
