Mary Denice Barnes, 92, of Lebanon died Tuesday at her home.
Mary was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Fenn, Idaho, the daughter of Dennis and Irene (Parsons) Howard. She was raised in Craigmont, Idaho, and graduated from high school there. Mary then attended college in Idaho before graduating with a nursing degree from Good Samaritan Medical School in 1944.
Mary married W.E. "Bud" Barnes on June 7, 1947, in Lewiston, Idaho. They moved to Lebanon from Kennewick, Washington, in 1956. Mary had worked locally as a registered nurse in the offices of Dr. Daugherty and Dr. Brink until her retirement.
Mary was a member of the Lebanon First Presbyterian Church. She was past president of the Oregon Nurse's Association and past member of the Oregon State Mother's Association. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.
She is survived by her husband W.E. "Bud" Barnes of Lebanon; sons Donald Barnes of Reno, Nevada, and Gene H. Barnes of Snoqualmie, Washington; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denice Ward, and three brothers.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
