Clifton L. Bass, 75
Cynthiana -- Clifton L. Bass, 75, of Cynthiana, died November 2, 2003, at Deaconess Hospital.Clifton served in WWII. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1114 and a member of the 82nd Airborne. Clifton retired from U.S. Postal Office in 1992, after 40 years of service. He was very active in the Postal Union. Clifton worked with Muscular Dystrophy for years. He was president of Muscular Dystrophy Association in 1973.He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Wheeler, May 1995; and grandson, Jacob Payton, July 2000.Clifton is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rosie Bass of Cynthiana, Ind.; daughters, Cathy Shearer of Henderson, Kentucky., Jeri Zimmerman of Evansville, Indiana, Lori Barnes of Evansville, Indiana, Tami Jones of Brandenburg, Kentucky, Lynette Rhea of Covington, Texas, Patti Payton of Chandler, Indiana, and Victoria Boykin of New Harmony, Indiana; a son, Mark Wheeler of Crossville, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Mary Wallace of Sebree, Kentucky.Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Alexander Memorial Park in Evansville, officiated by Reverend Donnie Mobley. Burial will be in Alexander Memorial Park.Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at Alexander West Chapel, and 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Alexander Memorial Park.
