John Leslie Bassett (Feb. 13, 1921 ? Feb. 11, 2008)
John L. Bassett, 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on February 11, 2008 at his home.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 12:00 noon from Clark Funeral Chapel with Dr. Stephen F. Shugert officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 16th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Michigan.
John was born February 13, 1921 in Brainerd, MN the son of Thomas Quick and Mabel Alice (Truscott) Bassett. He graduated from Ironwood High School. John married Cecile E. Lebel in Jackson, MI in January of 1957. He worked for the Michigan State Police for 27 years and retired as a Sergeant. During his retirement John was employed by Mt. Pleasant Public Schools as a bus driver and Central Michigan Community Hospital as a security guard. He served in the U. S. Army from 1947 to 1948. John was a lifetime member of the Masons of Michigan, Springport Lodge 284.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cecile E. Bassett; sister, Edna Mae Mattson and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas and Stanley; sisters, Alberta, Alice and Audrey.
