George A. "Buddy" Bassett Jr.
BASSETT, GEORGE A., JR. 'BUDDY', 66, owner of Bassett's Inn Restaurant, West Shore Road for 43 years died Sunday at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Laura P. (DeStefano) Bassett.
Born in Cranston a son of the late George A. Bassett, Sr., and Agnes A. (Dewey) Bassett, he had been a Warwick resident for 40 years. Mr. Bassett enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and local artist's paintings.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl A. Morgan, one son, Gregory A. Bassett, both of Warwick, one brother Ronald P. Bassett of Deerfield Beach, FL, two sisters, Carol V. Lackey of Johnston and Anne M. Steger of Warwick, five grandchildren Sean and Justin Dupuis, Gregory and Christopher Bassett and Kaela Morgan. He was the brother of the late Robert A. and Dennis W. Bassett.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Oakland Beach Carousel Workshop, 2438 West Shore Road, Warwick RI 02889, will be appreciated. Arrangements with Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home.
