GREENFIELD - Cheryl L. (Sedlak) Bassett, 57, of Riddell Street died Saturday 6/20/15 at home. She was born in Northampton on September 25, 1957, the daughter of Richard and Arlene (Laflam) Sedlak, Sr. She was a graduate of Easthampton High School Class of 1975.
Cheryl was employed by the Baystate Franklin Medical Center for 32 years, working in various positions within the hospital. Most recently, she was in the medical coding and billing department at BHS Ambulance.
Spending time with family and friends was the most important aspect of her life but what made her most happy was raising and caring for son Sam who she adored. Family vacations at Disney World and camping with friends in Maine were her favorite ways to relax. She also enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader of biographies and history, loved music (especially the Beatles) and sunning at the beach taking time out looking for shells and sea glass.
Besides her beloved husband of 35 years, James Bassett, Cheryl leaves a son, Samuel of Greenfield, her parents, Richard and Arlene Sedlak, a sister, Darlene Sedlak and husband John Geryk, all of Punta Gorda, Florida, two brothers, Richard Sedlak, Jr. and wife Anita of Easthampton and John Sedlak and wife Gwen of Kannapolis, NC, and two nieces, Betsy and Tracy Sedlak, both of Wilmington, NC. As well as her mother-in-law Barbara Bassett, brothers-in-law, Jon Bassett, Andy Bassett and his wife Laurie, Dan Bassett, Jesse Bassett and his wife Jennifer, sisters-in-law Annmarie Mason, Jennifer Willor and her husband Brian, Cathy Campbell and her husband Ken and many nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was predeceased by her niece, Jamie Gosselin in 1999, father-in-law Ronald Bassett in 2012 and sister-in-law Eva Bassett in 2013.
An informal Celebration of Cheryl's Life will be held on Monday, June 29 at 5 p.m. at Terrazza Ristorante at Country Club of Greenfield, 244 Country Club Road, Greenfield, MA. RSVP to 413-522-0585 by 6/25.
