  Notes	Asheville Mortuary Service, 27 November 2023 James ?Pete? Bassett James (Pete) Morris Bassett, 89 went home to be with his Lord and Savior 11-21-2023 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the Late George M. Bassett and the Late Evelyn Gentry Bassett. He resided at 69 Jefferson Drive for 56 years and was affectionately known as the "Mayor" of the street. He retired from D.O. Creasman and attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Bassett, his sons John Bassett and David Bassett, Brothers George Bassett, Robert Bassett, Joe Bassett and Bill Bassett, Sisters Jesse Bassett Sparks and Sherry Bassett. He is survived by a sister Barbara Bassett, Daughter in-law Angela Bassett and grandchildren Morgan Bassett, Isaiah Bassett, Annie Bassett and Emma Bassett. Several nieces and nephews and a community of friends.
