  Notes	1997 Polk Obituaries Joseph David Bassett, 70, of Taylorsville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997 at his residence. Mr. Bassett was born Jan. 29, 1927 in Asheville, N.C. He was a retired construction worker and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Survivors include two brothers, Pete Bassett of Ashville, N.C., and Bill Bassett of Taylorsville, and three sisters, Jessie Sparks, Barbara Bassett and Sherry Bassett, all of Asheville, N.C. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Riverside Cemetery in Ashville, N.C. with Major Leonard Taylor officiating. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
