Gary L. Bessette
Gary L. Bessette, 83 of Wittenberg, died on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Gary was born on July 7, 1941, in Wausau, the son of Frank and Alice (Scofield) Bessette.
On October 26, 1963, Gary was united in marriage to Laura Bauch in Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2001. He then married Linda Nuxoll on September 20, 2003, in Wausau.
Gary owned and operated Bessette Feed until retiring at the age of 76. Gary was always ambitious and a hard worker. He enjoyed hunting deer, organic farming, singing and fishing. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed bowling, softball and playing the harmonica. Gary was active in the Wittenberg-Birnamwood FFA Alumni and also enjoyed bidding on animals at the fair.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Denise (Randy Schroeder) Bessette, Brian Bessette Sr., Linda Bever and Sandra (Bo Kelly) Bessette; three grandchildren, Morgan (Jordan Faber) Bever, Brian and Ashley; siblings, Barbara Feehrer, Daniel Bessette and Cynthia (Henry) Palma and special friends, Leon and Carol Kaminski.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; son, Kevin and siblings, Carmen Pingel, Floyd, Bradley, Patricia Schertz, Florence Klabunde and Ron.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Joseph Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Norrie. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
