Francis Homer Bass

Francis Homer Bass, 69, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 after a long illness. Francis was born on April 13, 1955 in New Haven, CT to James E. Bass, Sr. And Lillian G. Miller Bass. Francis was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Francis Jr. Francis is survived by his wife Mary Kay, son Danny Bass (Candice), daughter Melanie Carden, 3 brothers James E. Bass, Jr. (Rita), Douglas Bass (Brenda), and Gary Bass, 2 sisters Sharon Christian and Shirley Sotaski, 3 grandchildren Cyrus Bass, Lillian Bass, and Magnolia Carden.
Francis joined the Marines at age 16, loved being a Marine, and was proud to have served his country. Francis was an Union Ironworker, first out of Birmingham, AL (Ironworkers Local 92) and later, for many decades, out of New Haven, CT (Ironworkers Local 424). Francis was an exceptionally talented Ironworker. It was in his blood; his maternal grandfather (whom he was named after), his father, his 3 brothers, and his son all were and are Ironworkers. Francis retired to Fairhope, AL, enjoying the Gulf Coast and the Mobile Bay Eastern Shore. Francis had recently returned to CT to spend time with his family. Services for Francis will take place at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort as his final resting place. The Bass Family would like to sincerely thank the VA Hospital West Haven for the outstanding care provided to him.
