Glayds Marie Bassett (Inlcludes picture)
Gladys Marie Bassett passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the age of 82, in Prescott, Ariz., with her children at her side. She was born in Birmingham, Ala., on June 30, 1930, to Claude and Simmie Hyche. She was married to Robert Bassett for 64 years. They lived in many locations due to his military service. Upon retirement they moved to Ash Fork, Ariz., for 11 years, then to Prescott, Ariz., for 16 years. Marie cared most of all for her husband, her children, her gardening, flowers, sewing for her grandkids and just being a wonderful mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her siblings, her husband and her first daughter. Survivors include four children, Cy Bassett of Phoenix, Ariz., Margie Kaine of Prescott Valley, Claudia McGuire of Wheatridge, Colo., Robin Jones of Fremont, Calif.; five grandchildren, Amy, Tricia, Tasha, Katie and Rebecca; five great grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Tyler, Britney and Samantha; all who will miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers, she would love it if you would make a donation to a hospice, animal shelter or charity of your choice. Inurnment, with Mr. Bassett, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Prescott National Cemetery. Log onto www.ruffnerwakelin.com to view and sign Marie's guestbook.
