Bassett, 79 ROCHFORD - Lucille Margaret Bassett, 79, of Rockford died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Swedish/American Hospital. Born June 22, 1924, to Charles F. and Bertha I. (Bennett) Cowell in Chippewa Falls, Wis. She lived in the Rockford area since 1946. Married Joseph Bassett on Nov. 18, 1946, in Chippewa Falls. Employed as a machine operator by Atwood Vac and Machine for 23 years. World War II Army veteran. Survivors include sons, LeRoy J. (Sally) and George O. Bassett, both of Rockford, daughter, Karen L. (Leon) Johnson of Machesney Park, sister, Dorothy (Harold) Paul of Tony, Wis. and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on jan. 20, 1993, son, Michael, brothers, Norm, Charles and James, sister, Phyllis and her parents. Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home, 304 N. Fifth St., with the Rev. David Petty of Calvary Memorial Church officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, in the funeral home.
