William Bass
William (Bill) Edgar Bass, 72 of Browerville, MN passed away on February 27, 2015 at his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services for Bill will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Long Prairie. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church and on the day of the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Long Prairie.Bill was born September 18, 1942, in San Pedro, California to Leslie and Thelma (Denniston) Bass. Bill was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Browerville High School in 1960.Bill married Barbara E. Steinert on December 22, 1962, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. Bill and Barb moved to Minneapolis where Bill worked at Kay Bank Recording, and also Midland, Inc. Bill moved his family back to the Long Prairie area in 1974. Over the years he was employed with UBC Lumber, Shutter Construction, and independently owned Bass Construction. In 1980 he became employed at Hart Press in Long Prairie. Bill became disabled and retired from Banta Corporation in 1999 due to a forklift accident.Bills passion was being outdoors where he enjoyed growing flowers and feeding the birds. Bill loved mowing the grounds at the Evergreen Cemetery and the First Baptist Church. He kept his block looking nice by mowing neighbors lawns throughout the past few years. In the winter he kept himself busy by cleaning his driveway and those of the neighbors.Bill served on the Trustee Board at the First Baptist Church for several terms and was on the Evergreen Cemetery Board for the past couple of years.Bill is survived by his wife Barbara Bass; daughters Michele (Don) Tschida of Long Prairie; Connie Sonsalla of Browerville; Jenni (Steven) Powell of Long Prairie; grandchildren: Troy (Stefanie) Tschida of Brooklyn Park, Nathan Tschida of Burnsville, and fiance; Andrea Fuchs of Cold Spring, Hannah Sonsalla, and Samuel Sonsalla of Browerville, great grandson Logan Tschida of Brooklyn Park; sisters Jeanne (Ervin) Johnson of Fridley and Janice Johnson of Anoka and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.Bill is preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Thelma Bass, father-in-law Walter A. Steinert, mother-in-law Gertrude (Drevlow) Steinert, and brother-in-law Marvin Johnson.Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home - itenfuneralhome.com.
