  Notes	Information provided by Rie Sadler John and Ola Bassett with son, John R. Bassett, Jr. moved from Blakes, Virginia to Gwynn's Island, Virginia in 1933. He built their home on Gwynn's Island next to a shop he had built previously. They moved into their new home in January 1936. He was a good carpenter and mechanic. Daily Press, Newport News, Virginia August 22, 1990 Ola C. Bassett GWYNN - Ola Carney Bassett, 94, died Tuesday, August 21, in Riverside Middle Peninsula Hospital, Gloucester. Mrs. Bassett was a native of Gwynn's Island and a member of Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, John R. Bassett Jr. of Gwynn; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Gwynn's Island Baptist Church by the Rev. Julian Orrell. Burial will be in Gwynn's Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews.
