Edith F. Bassett of Cadillac passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at her home. She was 91.
Mrs. Bassett was born October 8, 1924 in Leroy to William and Lola (Gardner) Marcus and they preceded her in death.
She graduated from Leroy Agricultural High School and began a career as a telephone operator. Mrs. Bassett worked for Michigan Bell in Cadillac for five years before working in Reed City for 15 years and later retiring out of Pasadena, Texas where she worked for Southwest Bell Telephone Company.
Mrs. Basset enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband in their motorhome for 25 years. She spent many years researching genealogy and family trees. She loved animals, especially their family dogs, gardening and spending time outside.
On January 26, 1974 in Cadillac she married Ronald W. Bassett and he survives her along with her step- children: Bill (Phyllis) Schnell of Florida, David (Sally) Bassett, Bethany (Cecil) Fauble all of Cadillac, John (Hiedi) Bassett of Texas, and Diane (Norm) Beale all of Cadillac; 10 grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Dorothy of Alma.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy DeLoach and an infant sister.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at a later date. Her final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery in Manton.
