  Notes	The Daily Item, 4 Feb 2006 Russell F. Bassett DANVILLE - Russell F. Bassett, 86, of 16 Rushtown Road, where he had resided since 1946, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Rush Township, Northumberland County, a son of the late Jeremiah S. and Kathryn Yeager Bassett. He graduated from Danville High School in 1937. Mr. Bassett served with the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for 42 years by PP&L, retiring in 1982 as a multi-purpose foreman. Mr. Bassett was an active member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Riverside. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and was especially fond of bird feeding and watching. He was a member of the PPL Retirees. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther Forney Bassett, who he married May 27, 1942. Also surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Marie K. Bassett of Paradise; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane B. and Kenneth E. Herman of Danville. One grandson Mark D. Bassett and one grandaughter Marcie H. Riebe also survive. One brother Carl Bassett of RD Danville also survives him. He is also survived by three sisters, Beatrice Erdman of Danville, Geraldine Herman of RD Sunbury, and Isabelle Fleming of Bloomsburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Clarence Bassett. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Donald N. Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Rush Presbyterian Cemetery, Snydertown Road, Danville. Friends will be received from 9:30 to the time of the service.
