Rev. Edward Bass Is Stricken Suddenly
Was Pastor Of Lon M.E. Church For 16 Years
The Rev. Edward Bass, 782, pastor of the Wesleyan M.E. church at Long for the past 16 years, died very unexpectedly of a heart attack at 10 p.m. Friday at his residence in the neighboring town.
The Rev. Bass, who had been active in the ministry for nearly a half-century, was a native of Darke county. he graduated from Greenville high school and received his theological training at the Wesleyan Seminary, near Winchester, Indiana.
In addition to the church at Long, he had served charges at both Zanesville, O., and Parkersburg, W.Va., during his extended career.
Immediate survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roma Kennedy and Mrs. Marie Stevens, both at home; one son, Ira Bas, of Dayton, and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at one p.m. at the Long church with the Rev. J.W. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Clemens cemetery.
Friends may call at the Turpen-McKnight funeral home here until one p.m. Sunday and after that hour at the Bass residence.
