Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Mausoleum & Memorial Park ? 21 February 2024
Michele Bass
Michele J. Bass was born on April 23, 1932 in Hartford CT, and passed on February 15, 2024, just a little over a month before her 92nd birthday. She was the eldest daughter of Irving and Shirley Joseph of Bristol, Connecticut. She was always a loving Sibling, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother to those that survive her. These include sisters Suzanne Rolnick ( Jerry Rolnick, deceased), Carol Cohen (Bernard Cohen); Children Ivy Mitcham (Mike Mitcham), Sandra Bass, Robert Bass (Cheryl Bass); Grandchildren Megan Janczak (Chase Janczak), Michael Bass ( Christina Bass), Matthew Mitcham (Anne Mitcham), Melanie Tomerlin ( Clint Tomerlin), Jessica Wilcher (Taylor Wilcher), and Alex Bass; Great Grandchildren Madelyn Janczak, Jacob Janczak, Charlotte Mitcham, Nora Wilcher, and Griffin Wilcher.
"Mickey" as everyone knew her was a loving and kind person. She was a school teacher, piano teacher, and home maker. She always had a love of music and dance and taught tap dancing until she was 80. Mickey was always there to care for others in her family. Her father Irving Joseph died an untimely death at 48 years old and Mickey was only 18, left to grieve as well as care for both her sisters Suzanne, and Carol 12 and 6 years old respectively. She took a year off from college to help her mother Shirley Joseph get back on her feet. The Joseph women are all small but mighty and Shirley was able to raise all 3 girls with the help of Mickey. As a supportive mother she always was a source of compassion and loving advice to three children that all worked very hard to become the professionals they are today. Without her support this would not have been possible.
In addition to teaching dance, she also played Mahjong, painted wonderful oils and water colors, and was a voracious reader with James Michener being one of her favorite authors.
Mickey will be missed by everyone she touched throughout the years. However, at this time she would want us all to celebrate her life and remember all of the wonderful times each of us shared with her.
Private services will be held.
