Donald Samuel Bass
Funeral service for Donald Samuel Bass, 61, will be today, January 13, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont with the Rev. Sherri Reynolds and Joey Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Eulaton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Bass passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Julie Bass, of Eastaboga; five children, Valerie Bass Collier (Todd), Wesley Bass (Ginger), April Bass Hunt (Kevin), all of Piedmont, Nick Gillies (Tammy), of Locust Grove, Ga. and Amber Sharpe (Charles), of Southside; nine grandchildren, Taylor Cook, Dawson Bass, Gavin Bass, Kara Dalrymple, Jada Franksain, Keely Bass, Stella Gillies, Spencer Sharpe and Tatum Sharpe; one brother, Kenneth Bass of Okla.; one sister, Yvonne Bass, of Pell City and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry Ray, Alan Ray, Jason Bass, Jeff Bass, Todd Collier and Charles Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Goodyear friends and the Spivey family. Mr. Bass grew up in the Goshen Community and was a graduate of Spring Garden High School. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He was an avid Auburn fan, loved to deep sea fish, enjoyed cooking on the grill which earned him the title 'grill master', was a NASCAR race fan and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Mozelle Bass; brothers, Freddy Bass, Gary Bass and twin brother, Ronald Bass and a grandson, Caden Reed Cook.
