Kenneth D. Bass
Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Fairfield for Kenneth D. Bass, 83, of Fairfield who died Monday at his residence.
Interment will follow at Pine Top Cemetery of Fairfield.
Public visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
Mr. Bass was born June 7, 1927 in Anderson county to Grant and Maggie Underwood Bass.
A resident of Fairfield for the past 60 years, he married Aldessa Henry on April 8, 1951 at the Fairfield #1 C.O.G.I.C.
Mr. Bass retired from Missouri-Pacific Railroad in 1962 and was president of the Usher Board at his church.
He volunteered for many years with the Freestone county Sheriff's Department during the Freestone County Fair and state coon hunts once held in Fairfield.
Mr. Bass was devoted to his church and family.
He enjoyed fishing and professional wrestling.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and granddaughter LaToya Bass-Haynes.
He is survived by his wife Aldessa (Honey) Bass; children Debra Uzzel and husband Dr. Robert Uzzel of Ennis, Kenneth L. Bass and wife Beverly of Houston,
Celia Strickland and husband Lonnie of Cedar Hill, Cilkaye Jessie and husband Cedric of Corsicana,
Teresa Haynes and husband Anthony of Houston; and LaCharles Bass and wife Glenda of Fairfield;
Special aunt Katie Mae Tatum of Fairfield; 18 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Family requests memorials be made to the Usher Board of Fairfield #1 C.O.G.I.C.
Officiating services are pastor David Algood of Fairfield #1 C.O.G.I.C.
Making arrangements is Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
