Marjorie L. Crandall, 86, of Butler Street, Oxford died Friday, May 7, 2004 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. She was born on October 29, 1917 in Oxford the daughter of the late Fred and Della (Ryan) Bassett. On May 30, 1936 she married Franklin Crandall, who died on August 29, 1986. She is survived by her children, Janet and Robert Gates, Jeanne and David Paden, and David and Shirley Crandall, all of Oxford; her grandchildren, Susan and Steve Ramous, Syracuse, Michael and Bonnie Crandall, Oxford, Timothy and Susan Borchardt, Greene, Betsy and Douglas Moline, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Anita and Rodney Flood, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, and Pamela and Martin Klepeis of Ballston Lake; her sister, Virginia Maricle; her sisters-in-law, Marion Bassett and Loretta Mathewson; and her brother-in-law, Delos Ingraham. 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Leona Whittaker, also survives. She was predeceased by her brothers, Fred W. Bassett and Richard Bassett; and her sisters, Carleda Wakefield and Dorothy Ingraham; and her brothers-in-law, Laurence Wakefield and Millard Maricle. Marjorie graduated as Valedictorian of Norwich High School. She was an electrical inspector at Simmonds Precision for 24 years, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. She had an extensive collection of elephants. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2004 at 6 p.m. at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Oxford with the Reverend Allen C. Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Monday from 4-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Emergency Squad.
