GEORGE BASSETT, SOUTH FORK, DIES
Was Retired Mining Engineer; 11 Years on School Board
SOUTH FORK, Sept. 6-George R. Bassett, aged 70, retired engineer of the Stineman Coal Company, died Saturday afternoon at his home at 419 Lake Street, following an illness of a complication of diseases. Mr. Bassett was not obliged to take his bed until a week previous to his death, although his health had been impaired for some time.
He was a member of the South Fork School Board for the past 11 years, having first been elected in 1926. Mr. Bassett was affiliated with the Stineman Coal Company here for 40 years. He was born in Liverpool, England, on October 19, 1866, and came to America when a young man.
His wife, the former Mary Seibert, passed away nine years ago. Surviving are these children: Mrs. Edward Sanders of South Fork; William Bassett, George Bassett, Ralph Bassett and Mrs. James Lentine, all of South Fork, and Mrs. Florence Christner of Detroit, Mich.
Surviving also are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the last member of 11. Mr. Bassett was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the I.O.O.F. and the Knights of Pythias.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Bassett home. Rev. Jacob Schrader, pastor of the South Fork Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the South Fork Cemetery, under the direction of George Bros., local morticians.

SOUTH FORK, Jan. 28 ? Mary K. Bassett, aged 60 years, wife of George R. Bassett, Sr., electrical engineer for the Stineman Coal Company, died of heart trouble at 4 o?clock this morning at her residence, 419 Lake street.
The deceased was born at Wilmoer and was a daughter of Daniel and Susan (Pringle) Seibert, both deceased. She is survived by her husband and these children: Mrs. Olive Lydic and William G., George R. Jr., and Ralph Bassett, all of South Fork; Mrs. Florence Christner, of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Esther Bassett, at home. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. George Costello, of South Fork, and Mrs. W. L. Hull, of Summerhill. A half-brother, Daniel Seibert, of Conemaugh, and eight grandchildren also survive. The deceased was a member of the local Methodist Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o?clock Thursday afternoon at the Bassett home, conducted by the Rev. Theodore Miner, pastor of the M.E. Church. Burial will be in the South Fork Cemetery. George Bros., local undertakers, will have charge of the funeral.
