Nolan Bassett
Died Tuesday, Aug. 5, of a heart attack in Texas. He was 60, a longshoreman, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Galveston. Body at Fields Funeral Home, Galveston. Religious services at Mr. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Galveston, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Galveston Municipal Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Bassett, three sisters, Mrs. Mary L. Battieste and Mrs. Emma Levy, both of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Emily Beverly, Galveston; five brothers, Llo9yd Bassett, Los Angeles, Calif., Lemuel Bassett, Bunkie, Wilbert Bassett, Galveston, and Wickliffe and Cortez Bassett, both of Baton Rouge, and a number of other relatives and friends.
