Sayers, 80, of Hollister Hill Road, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. Born Feb. 19, 1938, in Marshfield, she was the daughter of Kenneth H. and Bessie E. (Dunn) Bassett. Greta attended elementary school in Marshfield and Montpelier High School. On Sept. 5, 1953, she married James A. Sayers in Northfield. After their wedding, they made their home in Marshfield. Greta was employed as a schoolbus driver for Twinfield High School retiring after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in the North Montpelier chapter. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, travelling, playing the guitar and singing, and going camping. Greta loved her family dearly and especially, her sister, Geraldine Gilman. Survivors include her husband, James Sayers, of Marshfield; her daughter, Joyce White, of Marshfield; her son, James Sayers Jr., of Marshfield; her daughter, Crystal Pierce and her husband, James, of Ferrisburgh; her daughter, Vicki Borland and her husband, James, of East Calais; her son, Terrance Sayers and his wife, Kimberley, of Enosburg Falls; her sister, Geraldine Gilman, of East Calais; her grandchildren Joseph White, Rebecca Wallace, Eric Proof, Matthew Proof, Terrance Sayers Jr., Schuyler Sayers, Ryan Sayers, Grace Sayers, Brendan Pierce, Tyler Pierce, Michelle Withers, Renee Charron; as well as many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Calvin Bassett, Raymond Bassett; her sister, Carolyn Sayers; and grandson, Aaron Sayers. The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
