Robert Armand Bessette
TAUNTON -- Robert Armand Bessette, 65, of Everett Street, Middleboro, died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of MaryLou Bessette and son of Emily Bessette of Middleboro and the late Armond H. Bessette.
He was born in Middleboro and educated in New Bedford. For 30 years he was employed as a nursing assistant at the V.A. Hospital in Brockton, retiring in 1987 at the age of 55.
Mr. Bessette joined the U.S. Army in August of 1950, serving in the Korean War. He received the Army Occupation Medal Japan, the Korean Service Medal, four Bronze Service Medals and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, Elks, and the Mitchell Club football team. He worked with the little league for several years.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and camping.
Survivors include his widow; his mother; four sons, Raymond Bessette, Richard Bessette and Robert A. Bessette Jr., all of Middleboro, and Ronald Bessette of Fairhaven; a daughter, Renee Feeley of Middleboro; a brother, Roger Bessette of Middleboro; two sisters, Leannette Martin of Fairhaven and Joyce McFadyen of Fairmont, Calif.; six granddaughters; three grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro.
Arrangements are by Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Homes, 59 Peirce St. (Corner of School Street), Middleboro.
