      BASS, Richard Richard M. (Dick) Bass passed away on November 6, 2018 in Longview, TX. He was born April 24, 1937 in Jacksonville, TX to Sarah (Schley) & Robert Maurice Bass. Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jon, his four children Marcy Bass, Mike Bass (Brooke), Carrie Green (Kyle), Kathy Elliott (Dan), eleven grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Thrive 360, a Paula Martin Jones Charity (Thrive-360.org), Cal Farley's Boys Ranch (calfarley.org) or the American Cancer Society, supporting Endocrine Research - 3838 Oak Lawn Ave.,Suite 700, Dallas, TX 75219 - 214-443-9222.       LONGVIEW ? Richard M. (Dick) Bass passed away on November 6, 2018 in Longview, TX after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born April 24, 1937 in Jacksonville, TX.
      Dick graduated from Kilgore High School in 1955. He went to The University of Oklahoma where he played basketball and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army in Italy where he used his love of basketball to be an ambassador for his country. On his return to the States he attended Kilgore Jr. College where he met his future wife, Mary Jon Whitfield. Mary Jon and Dick moved to Louisiana to attend Louisiana Tech where they graduated in 1962. Soon after, they moved to Dallas where Dick continued to develop his insurance career. For 58 years he built relationships & his clients became friends. He belonged to many professional associations and was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table. In 2005 they moved to Longview, TX to be near his mother. In his spare time, Dick could be found on a basketball court coaching his children and grandchildren and their friends, playing in a pick-up game, fly fishing or enjoying the many activities of his grandchildren. He was a lifelong Presbyterian and was proud of his Cherokee heritage. His great grandfather was a Presbyterian minister, who was on the Trail of Tears. Dick fully understood the importance of sharing the word of God and served as a Sunday school teacher and an elder. He always wanted to teach the next generation to honor God and be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
      Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, daughter Marcy Bass of Dallas, Mike Bass (Brooke) of Dallas, daughter Carrie Green (Kyle) of Dallas and daughter Kathy Elliott (Dan) of Tulsa. Grandchildren Kelsey Bass, Michael Bass, Grace Bass, Brant Green, Bryce Green, Elise Green, Taylor Lee(Peter), Brandon Seacat, Blake Seacat, Morgan Harmon (Adam), Miranda Feemster (Justin) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by his father Robert M. Bass, his mother Sarah Bass Bronstad; brother, Bob Bass; two sisters, Loey Hill and Martha Jones.
      The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore Thursday, November 15th from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
      A Memorial service will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX, Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. with Nelson Bell & Jonathan Jehorek officiating.
