James Bassett Services Set For Thursday
James David Bassett, 1515 7th Avenue, died Tuesday morning at Weld County General Hospital where he had been a patient for three days, following two years of illness.
Bassett was born January 9, 1892, in Ray County, Missouri. He married Ethel C. Cummings, April 22, 1914, at Polo, Missouri. In 1916 they moved to Milliken, then to Greeley in 1939. He worked for Hensel Phelps Constructions Co. for 15 years. He retired in 1960.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and a past commander of Pioneer Post No. 2121 of the VFW and a member of Carpenters Local 418 for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel C. Bassett; two sons, Paul W. Bassett of Greeley and James D. Bassett Jr. of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Mrs. Reta Pauline Milton, Susanville, California, and Mrs. Verna Alene Walters of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Brown, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Adamson Memorial Chapel with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Friends who wish may give to the organ fund of the First United Presbyterian Church in care of Adamson Mortuary.
