Lois Heed Bassett
Lois Heed Bassett, 86, formerly of West Chester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 24, 2011, at Garden Spot Village Retirement Community in New Holland. She was the daughter of the late John B.R. Heed and Margaret (Rita) L. Heed and the wife of the late Amos E. Bassett Jr., who passed away last year. Mrs. Bassett was born January 16, 1925 in West Chester where she resided until 1998 when she and Amos moved to Garden Spot Village. Lois received her degree in teaching from West Chester University. Then went on to teach with the Wallingford School District. Lois was one of the longest living members of the West Chester United Methodist (she was quite proud of this fact). She was a lifelong member of the choir, historian of the church, a member of the King Class, and United Methodist Women. In addition, Lois was very involved with the Chester County Historical Society where she enjoyed documenting her family history as well as others. She is survived by her daughter, Amy B. Jameson and her husband Jeff, of Honey Brook; and granddaughter, Courtney Jameson. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Lois' Life at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the West Chester United Methodist Church, 129 S. High St., West Chester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Courtny Jameson's Relay For Life Team, Team Hope, PO Box 181, Honey Brook, PA 19344. Arrangements are being handled by DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.dellafh.com.
