Rufus Claud Bass
Mr. Rufus Claud Bass of Noma, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. He was 86.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at First Baptist Church of Esto with the Rev. Ryan Bugue and Jerry Newman officiating. Burial will follow at New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the church.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to First Baptist Church of Esto, P.O. Box 5111, Bonifay, Fla., 32425.
Mr. Bass was born Jan. 30, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Bass of Noma. Mr. Bass was World War II veteran, serving in the conflict at the Belgian Bulge. Mr. Bass was a farmer by occupation and a lifelong resident of Noma. He was also known as "the candy man" for his delicious chocolate and peanut candies. Mr. Bass was a member of First Baptist Church of Esto.
Mr. Bass was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Bass, of Noma, and his sister, Ruth Paramore, of Marianna, Fla.
Mr. Bass's survivors include his brother-in-law, Gene Paramore, and wife, Janice Paramore, of Marianna, Fla.; one niece, Lisa Pickelsimer, and her husband, Jim Pickelsimer, of Montgomery; one nephew, Charles Paramore, of Cottondale; two great-nieces, Megan and Caitlin Pickelsimer, of Auburn; one nephew, Dylan Paramore, of Compass Lake, Fla.; and one great-aunt, Gladys Bass, of Slocomb.
