James A. Bassett, age 61, Palm Beach County Native
James A. Bassett, a native of Palm Beach County, died Saturday at 61. Mr. Bassett was a graduate of Jupiter High School and a general contractor in Palm Beach County for 29 years, serving as president of Gladwin-Bassett Inc. in Jupiter. He was a member of the Jupiter Light Lodge No. 340 F&AM, the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2469, the Rood Williams American Legion Post 271 and Grace Immanuel Bible Church of Jupiter. He lived on River Road in Jupiter. Survivors include his wife, Cleo; a daughter, Linda Bassett Dotson of Jupiter; mother, Mittie Ruth Bassett of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; three brothers, Amos Earl Bassett Jr. of Westchester, Pa., Richard M. Bassett of St. Augustine and Raymond H. Bassett of Zolfo Springs; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Aycock-Village Funeral Home, Jupiter. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Jupiter. Friends may call the funeral home from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A masonic service will be at 8 p.m. today. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grace Immanuel Bible Church Building Fund.
