Robert Coy ?Bob? Dupree
Robert Coy "Bob" Dupree, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 7, 2012.
Born on July 14, 1920, in Dothan, he is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Roxie Dupree; his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy "Dot" Dupree, all of Dothan; and siblings, Sheldon Dupree, Dora Dupree, Morris "Shep" Dupree, Eugene "Edd" Dupree; and his twin brother, the Rev. Dr. William "Bill" Dupree, Eugenia Ward; and Jewell Parrish.
During WWII, he joined the U.S. Army and became a mess sergeant at Camp Hood, Texas, now Ft. Hood. He was quite well known for his apple pies. While there, he left the kitchen behind and joined the paratroops, becoming a member of the 503rd Airborne, Regimental Combat Team, "The Rock." He was honorably discharged on Dec. 25, 1945.
After the war, he went to work for Nathan and Aaron Kreselsky in Dothan and became an outstanding shoe man. He later worked for Baxter's Shoes and moved his family to Andalusia in 1959 to manage the store. Dupree enjoyed a long career in the shoe retail industry.
After the death of his wife in 1996, Dupree lived with his grandson, Gray, for several months before coming to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Julian Foshee, in Andalusia.
Two of his greatest passions were cooking and gardening. For many, many years, he cooked spaghetti for the Civitan Club and other civic organizations in Andalusia. During this time, he also made pancakes for the Pilot Club's annual pancake breakfast.
For the past three years, Dupree resided at Florala Health and Rehab where the staff, headed by Sara Goolsby, took extraordinary care of him and all of his needs, even allowing him to plant his beloved flowers in the garden behind the dining hall.
Dupree is survived by his two daughters, Bobbie (Julian) Foshee of Andalusia and Cape Coral Fla., and Debbie (James Carl) Williams of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Gray Foshee (Shelly) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Melanie Geenen (Jeffrey) of Cape Coral, Fla.; Kenneth Williams (Cecili) of Annandale Va.; Christopher Williams of Tampa, Fla.; Adam Williams (Kimberly) of Clearwater, Fla.: and Daniel Williams of Pensacola and Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Brit, Quinton, Jeret, Micah, Hannah, Rachel, and Bruce Foshee; Peter Geenen: and Piper and Emerson Williams (Kenneth).
Services will be held at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, at 10 a.m. today, Sat., Feb. 11, with Pastor Carl Douglas officating. Special music provided by Charles and Marie Hinson and Debbie Williams.

Robert Coy Dupree Mr. Robert Coy Dupree of Andalusia, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 the Florala Health and Rehab. He was 91. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2012, the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Carl Douglass officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 9 to 10 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2012, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to The Bridge, or to the Carol Gray Dupree Center for Children at Princeton Theological Seminary.
