George Benjamin Bass

George Benjamin Bass, 66, of Knoxville, formerly of Crossville, peacefully went home Dec. 22, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Monroe Bass and George Neal Bass Jr. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Julie Bass of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Lewis Wheeler of Cookeville; and son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Stacey Bass of Crossville. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Lynn Carson of Crossville, and five grandchildren, Savana, Nic, Jake, Lily and Zackery.
Mr. Bass was born in Memphis, TN, Dec. 23, 1947. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in Nashville and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he played football under Coach Doug Dickey. He was a long-time member of Crossville First United Methodist Church and was a founding partner of The Plateau Group. He was also instrumental in organizing the sports booster clubs for the Cumberland County High School Jets. He was a beloved father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at Crossville First United Methodist Church Sunday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Crossville First United Methodist Church Building Fund in memory of Ben Bass.
