Paul Wesley Bassett
Paul Wesley Bassett, Jr., 83, of Youngsville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 20, 2026, surrounded by those he loved.
Originally from Mathews, Virginia, Paul was born to the late Paul Wesley Bassett, Sr. and Pearl Aventher Brooks Bassett. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Forsythe Bassett.
He was a graduate of Mathews High School, Class of 1961. A proud veteran, Paul honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, devotion to family and friends, love of God, and the kindness he showed to those around him. Paul especially loved saltwater fishing and cherished time spent on the water. He was a faithful member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church for 16 years.
H??e is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Parker and her husband, Steve, of Mt. Airy, Maryland; his cherished grandchildren, Ethan Parker and Gabby Parker; and his sister, Lavelle Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church in Cobbs Creek, Virginia.
