  Notes	Boston Herald, Wednesday, July 29, 1914 Edward D. Bassett PROVIDENCE, July 28 ? Edward Drown Bassett, lawyer, member of the commission to revise the judicial statutes of the state, and former member of the Providence city government, died suddenly from heart failure at his home this morning at the age of 64. Mr. Bassett was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Providence in 1865, was educated in the public schools and at Brown University, graduating in 1873. He studied law in the office of Samuel Curry, one of the leaders of the bar. He attained rank as one of the leading attorneys of Rhode Island. For six years he served as a member of the Providence school committee, was elected to the common council, and in 1905 was chosen for the commission to revise the judicial system. He was a director of the Westminster Bank, and a member of the Providence Athenaeum. He belonged to the Chi Phi fraternity. He was senior warder of the Church of the Epiphany, from which he will be buried.
