Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at New Birth Baptist Church with the Rev. S.F. Evans officiating. Burial will be in Reeds Chapel Cemetery at Slate Shoals. He was a deacon at New Birth Baptist and had been employed at the Maxey House and United Methodist Church. Surviving are sons Earl Bass of Paris and Ezell Bass of Dallas; daughters, Evelyn Giddens of Powderly, Mary Burton and Corine Bass of Paris; sisters, Channie Ellis and Littie Brown of Paris and Virginia Bass of Garland; brothers, Jack Bass of Wichita Falls and Rural Bass of Washington, D.C.; 27 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Bass.
