Mr. Bass died Friday, July 4, 1997. Born in Winnsboro, he was a son of the late Eli Bass and Mary Taylor Bass. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired owner/operator of Restaurant Businesses, and a member of Blythewood Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Susie Irene Sharpe Bass of Ridgeway; daughters, Gwen Bass Ross and husband Larry W. of Columbia; sons, Kenneth and wife Pamela Ringer Bass of Blythewood, Robbie Bass of Columbia; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
